Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons is getting a free DLC update called Sacred Reunion and with it comes three new playable characters and three new game modes.

Contents of the Double Dragon DLC
The update will give players access to three new characters: Sonny Lee, a fighter who is allegedly the third Double Dragon brother, Chin Sei Mei, a martial artist equipped with metal claws, and Ranzou, a ninja. All three characters were playable in previous entries of the Double Dragon series, hence the DLC’s name, “Sacred Reunion.”
The update also includes three new game modes: versus mode (where players can fight one another), online co-op for all of the game’s modes, and survival mode (where players face waves of enemies), along with a new difficulty mode/setting. Six stages can be unlocked for the survival and versus modes, and new upgrades will also be unlockable for players.
What is Double Dragon?
Hitting the gaming scene back in 1987, Double Dragon is a series of beat ’em-up games that featured the titular Double Dragon brothers, Billy and Jimmy, who usually have to prevent gangs from taking over their hometown by way of inflicting violence upon them. The series initially began life as an arcade game before being followed up by home console versions of the game that appeared on multiple platforms such as the Atari 2600, Neo Geo, Game Gear, and many more consoles. Last year, the newest game in the series, Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons, was released for series fans to get their hands on.
Taking place in a ravaged New York, players must defeat four criminal gangs attempting to control the city. At launch, four characters were available: Billy, Jimmy, Mariam, and Uncle Matin. Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons is available on all major gaming platforms.
