The latest Dragon Ball Sparking Zero trailer
Various mentors are seen doing battle with their students, like Piccolo with child Gohan and Whis with Beerus. The theme here is the students being shown the path to becoming stronger by the mentors, whose hearts are in turn filled with pride because of their students becoming better fighters. The characters seen unleashing ki blasts upon one another are Piccolo, child Gohan, adult Gohan, Future Timeline Gohan, Future Trunk, Master Roshi, Krillin, Yamcha, Videl, Whis, and Beerus. Androids 17 and 18 also show up to harass the Future Timeline characters towards the end of the video.
Earlier in April, V Jump magazine revealed these characters were coming to Sparking Zero, with images showing them in action. Scans of the magazine quickly spread across X (formerly Twitter) and other websites. Future Gohan in particular managed to excite fans with his inclusion, since this version of Goku’s son hails from an alternate timeline and has only one arm. In that dark timeline, the Androids killed most of the Z Fighters and blew his arm off while Gohan was trying to protect Future Trunks from them.
What is Dragon Ball Sparking Zero?
Way back in 2005, the first Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi game was released and it allowed DBZ fans to play as their favorite characters, punching, kicking, and ki-blasting their way through various stages. It was so good, two more games were developed by Spike Chunsoft and released to fans hungry for more.
Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is the latest entry in this beloved series and was first revealed after the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour Finals tournament had finished in 2023, with the game’s title being revealed during the Game Awards that same year. Given that the Budokai Tenkaichi 3 was released back in 2007, this new game will include more recent characters from Dragon Ball Super, like the aforementioned Beerus and Whis, along with many other characters you love, hate, and tolerate.
Spike Chunsoft is using Unreal Engine 5 and is planning on dropping PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC port for the game. A release date hasn’t been issued as of writing.
