However, Sony’s PlayStation 5 now makes it easier to use Discord for voice chat by allowing players to access Discord voice chats directly from their consoles. This new update eliminates the need to manage these connections through Discord’s PC or mobile apps. The update will roll out gradually over the next few weeks, beginning with PS5 users in Japan and Asia, and then expanding to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, and finally the U.S. and Canada.
How can I link my PS5 with Discord?
To use Discord voice chat on the PS5, go to the Game Base section in the PS5 Control Center and click on the Discord tab. Choose the Discord server or direct message group you want to join, and then select your preferred voice channel. You’ll see details, like who is currently in the chat. You will also get a notification on your PS5 when you receive a call from a Discord user, allowing you to join the chat instantly. Make sure your PS5 is updated to the latest system software to use the new Discord integration. You also need to link your PlayStation Network account to your Discord account. Sabrina Meditz, senior director of product management for PlayStation, said in a blog post: “This update will make it easier than ever to quickly join Discord conversations with other gamers.” She emphasized that Sony’s PlayStation 5 now makes it easier to use Discord for voice chat, enhancing the overall gaming and social experience.
She also mentioned that starting next week, gamers will be able to share their PlayStation Network profile on any messaging or social app. By selecting “Share Profile” from the PlayStation App or PS5 console, users can create a shareable link or QR code, further demonstrating how Sony’s PlayStation 5 now makes it easier to use Discord for voice chat and connect with friends.
