Remember when Team Cherry announced Hollow Knight: Silksong? That was five years ago and no news of a release date has been issued. Now, however, that could change.
The Hollow Knight Silksong Xbox store page can now be viewed by the public, as well as store pages on the Nintendo eShop, Steam, GOG, and PlayStation Network stores. However, some fans are highly skeptical of these pages being real and the reason for this is because the page was created on April 1.
Thus, part of the fanbase is convinced a release date is close to being announced, while another section still doesn’t believe what’s going on.
Thankfully, one member of the marketing team also said that the game now has a store page over on X (formerly Twitter). So did a senior content planning manager over at Xbox. The game even has an ESRB rating of E10+ for fantasy violence and blood, further hinting that this may not be a total hoax. However, that rating is on the Xbox store page and not on the official ESRB website as of writing.
Fans are currently going nuts at the notion that a release date could be near. They’ve been starved for new Hollow Knight content and since it’s been so long, part of the community still doesn’t believe Silksong is coming out. As such, some members of the community have made memes poking fun at Silksong’s release.
Understandably, they want the next entry in the Hollow Knight series in their hands as soon as possible. Team Cherry assured them that the game wouldn’t take much longer to create, but that was back in 2022 and fans have gone stir-crazy since then.
Recently, the subreddits for Hollow Knight and fellow indie game Shovel Knight were switched as part of April Fool’s Day, with posts joking that Hollow Knight is a copy of Shovel Knight. Players also posted Shovel Knight content onto r/HollowKnight for the occasion.

What is Hollow Knight Silksong?
The sequel to the original game, Silksong has been in development for five years now. It follows Hornet, a boss character from the first game, as she is captured and transported to the Kingdom of Pharloom, which is “haunted by silk and song.” Hornet will have to solve the kingdom’s mysteries, acquire new abilities, discover secrets related to her nature and history, and battle Pharloom’s hostile inhabitants as she races to the highest peak in the kingdom.
Hornet will also have access to multiple weapons and traps and will need to solve various side quests for those that call Pharloom home. Like the previous game, a permadeath mode called Silk Soul will give players an additional challenge after they’ve finished the game.
It was originally meant to be DLC for Hollow Knight but was expanded into a full sequel mid-development.
