I Miss You trend went viral

If you have a decent memory, you may remember when TikToker @ummmyuhasdf’s ‘I Miss You’ trend went viral. This viral trend inspired K-pop superstar IU and Shinee’s Minho to recreate this. The trend is about putting your index finger on your eyebrows while your middle finger towards your mouth. Eventually, lowering both of them to form a ‘finger heart.’

After the TikTok trend went viral and IU made a video on it, @ummmyuhasdf made headlines on several media outlets calling him Singaporean due to his accent. However, since then he showed his Malaysian passport in one of his TikTok videos and also called out local media for mistaking his identity and labelled him as Singaporean in their headlines.

“I hate to do this but I had to Google my own name to see which media has reported on it and I saw a few Singaporean, Malaysian, and Brunei entertainment news websites talking about it — and they all think I’m Singaporean,” He said in a TikTok video.

@ummmyuhasdf’s hold was that local media didn’t reach out to him for the information so he wanted to clear all the miscalculations and misinformation for all who reported the news or just consumed it on several media platforms.

He then went on to urge Malaysians and Singaporeans in his follower list, or who are seeing the video, not to fight in the comment section about ‘culture theft.’
