Stellar Blade demo drops March 29, progress carries to full game

In a recent PlayStation Blog post, Stellar Blade’s director, Hyung Tae Kim, announced that the Stellar Blade demo that will be available on March 29 (7 A.M. PDT/2 P.M. GMT) for PlayStation 5.

Kim explains that the demo will start from the beginning of the game and will see players control protagonist Eve and go to Earth to reclaim it from the Naytiba, the monstrous antagonists of the game. The demo includes a tutorial section to teach players the game’s mechanics as they explore Eidos 7, a city that has been overrun by the Naytiba and will end once players defeat the first boss.

Stellar Blade will feature 60 FPS combat and players will experience “various charms of the game that you can only confidently appreciate through hands-on experience.” Kim mentioned that players that complete the demo will receive a surprise. Players can also transfer their save data to the final version of Stellar Blade, allowing them to pick up where they left off once they’ve finished the demo.

What is Stellar Blade?

Made by Korean developer Shift Up, Stellar Blade is an upcoming hack-and-slash action/adventure game from that sees Earth invaded and ravaged by monstrous aliens called the Naytiba. The Naytiba force humans to flee to outer space and live on a colony spaceship. Players will step into the shoes of Eve, a soldier who is sent alongside her squad to combat the Naytiba and reclaim Earth for humanity.

Eve will work alongside her companions, Tachy (the leader of Eve’s squad and a decorated soldier), Adam (a scavenger who saves Eve after she arrives on Earth), and Lily (an engineer from another squad who can upgrade Eve’s equipment), throughout the game’s campaign. Players will be able to explore various locales, from the last human city of Xion to the Great Desert that lies outside of the city limits.

Stellar Blade is described as being “filled with mature themes, mystery, and revelation” and has a fast pace with players being unable to slow down between instances where they must make crucial decisions that can change the game’s story.

Players can currently pre-order two editions of Stellar Blade: the standard edition and the Digital Deluxe edition, which includes multiple cosmetic items, 2,000 SP EXP, and 5,000 Gold (in-game currency). Pre-ordering either edition will give players three cosmetic items as well.
