A new trailer for Predator: Hunting Grounds was released online, with an ominous message: “The Hunt Begins Again.” Hunting Grounds PS5 and Xbox Series version, along with more DLC, will drop in late 2024 and 2025.

Not much meat on this trailer: DLC and Hunting Grounds PS5, Xbox Series
The trailer doesn’t give away much as to what developer IllFonic has in store for both prey and Predators, but the description explains that the developer is working on Hunting Grounds PS5 and Xbox Series versions of the game, as well as more DLC and some balance updates scheduled for release in 2024 and 2025. IllFonic will also be the publisher for Hunting Grounds instead of Sony Interactive, explaining why the game is now coming to Xbox.
As of writing, what the DLC is for Predator: Hunting Grounds is unknown, though it’s likely to be more characters and weapons that players can control or equip. Versions of Hunting Grounds PS5 and Xbox Series are slated for a late 2024 release.
What is Predator: Hunting Grounds?
In a similar vein to Dead by Daylight and Friday the 13th: The Game (another IllFonic creation), Predator: Hunting Grounds is an asymmetrical multiplayer game where one player gets to be the extraterrestrial Yautja (the Predator species name) and hunt four hapless human soldiers in a jungle. For Predators, the aim of the game is to kill their worthy prey (the soldiers) using its alien weaponry, while the humans have to either kill or capture their alien attacker using their ordinary firearms.
IllFonic has supported the game ever since it was released in 2020 with new Predators and characters to play as, including Dutch Schaefer and Isabelle Nissenbaum, both characters from the movies whose actors returned to voice them (Arnold Schwarzenegger and Alice Braga, respectively).
The Predator series began with 1987’s Predator. While exfiltrating after a successful mission in a South American jungle, main character Dutch and his mercenary band are picked off one by one by the film’s monster, the bloodthirsty Predator, whose goal is to hunt and kill any prey that it deems worthy, as well as take their skulls as trophies. By the end of the film, Dutch is the only one of his crew to make it out alive, with everyone else dead at the Yautja’s hands.
Ever since the film debuted, the franchise has had sequels, video games, novels, and comic books, some of which involve it battling the xenomorphs from the Alien franchise. The Predator has even fought against DC’s Batman and Marvel’s Wolverine in two separate crossover comics.
