Rain World The Watcher DLC: What is it about?

The trailer for the new Rain World DLC didn’t give away much information. Various wildlife can be seen before moving offscreen before the protagonist (likely the titular Watcher) is seen. The camera quickly zooms into their black skin, before the title of the DLC is shown.

Over on Steam, the DLC explains that players will “journey beyond to something, somewhere only ever glimpsed.” The expansion will feature new, unknown wildlife players will need to contend with as “predators and prey will be redefined”, all while they do their best to help the protagonist survive. Steam users can now wishlist Rain World The Watcher DLC.

What is Rain World?

A survival game where you take control of a “slugcat”, Rain World challenges players to help the creature get back to its family after being separated from them during a flood. The slugcat will need to scour areas for food as well as shelter rooms necessary for saving progress, while also taking care to avoid creatures looking to make a meal out of the slugcat. Two more slugcats were added in a free update that makes the game easier or harder, along with unique playstyles for both.

Rain World also has a DLC pack, Downpour, that adds five new playable slugcats to the game, each having their own unique playstyle like their predecessors. The DLC included a challenge mode, new predators to avoid, expedition mode (a randomizer where players are tasked with completing tough challenges), and campaigns for all of the new playable characters.
