As if one Prince of Persia game wasn’t enough for this year (not that I’m complaining), it seems like another Prince game is being made.

The Rogue Prince of Persia
A report from Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson says that a new Prince of Persia game, called “The Rogue Prince of Persia”, will launch in early access on Steam. Henderson writes that the Rogue Prince will be getting frequent updates and will adapt and change based on the demands of the game’s player base.
It’s being developed by Evil Empire, the people who had a hand in creating Dead Cells and will be released by Ubisoft sometime this year. The game’s art direction will be based on Franco-Belgian comics. It’s not known when the game is going to be announced; however, Evil Empire is involved with the Triple-III Initiative, a showcase where multiple indie developers will announce multiple new projects they are working on. Evil Empire may announce the Rogue Prince game during this showcase on April 10 (this is pure speculation and has not been confirmed).
What is the Prince of Persia?
Prince of Persia is an old Ubisoft IP that sees players controlling various iterations of the titular prince as he platforms his way across whatever game he’s in (there’s also a lot of sword-based combat in these affairs). This is the series that shares DNA with Assassin’s Creed, back when it was supposed to be a PoP game, but instead got turned into its own series.
Ubisoft released Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown as the latest game in the franchise. It’s an action platformer where you need to use time-altering abilities to progress. Speaking of time, a remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (considered by many to be the best PoP game) is being developed, but not much else is known about the project.
What is the Triple-III Initiative?
The Triple-III Initiative is a game showcase composed exclusively of independent developers (hence the name). Some of the studios involved are Thunder Lotus Games (Spiritfarer), Red Hook Studios (Darkest Dungeon), Evil Empire (Dead Cells), Stunlock Studios (V Rising), and many more. More than 30 announcements will be made at the showcase on April 10 at 10 A.M. (PDT).
