Though Star Wars: The Acolyte may have a high review score, user reviews aren’t exactly praising the show.

The newest Star Wars show
Ever since Disney acquired the Star Wars IP a decade ago, they’ve made plenty of content to milk the franchise dry and fill their coffers up with our money. Case in point: Star Wars: The Acolyte, the latest Star Wars show to appear out of hyperspace and onto Disney Plus.
The Acolyte is set during the High Republic era of Star Wars, which is set a century before The Phantom Menace. It’s a time when both the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic were at their most powerful. But of course, peace isn’t present thanks to some people.
This new series revolves around Osha (Amandla Stenberg), an ex-padawan who’s hunting down her sister Mae (also Amandla Stenberg), who Osha previously thought was dead. This is because the latter has started killing Jedi and serving an unknown master who wields a red lightsaber (they’re likely a Sith Lord). Along with Osha for the ride are her old Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae), Jedi Knight Yord (Charles Barnett, and Sol’s new padawan, Jecki (Dafne Keen).
The Acolyte’s poor reviews
So far, reviews for The Acolyte have showered it with praise and it’s currently sitting at a 93% fresh score over on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the audience score is a poor 31% to contrast the praise. User reviews mainly criticize two aspects of the show: some of the characters being bland (though some users like certain characters over others), poorly acted and having bad dialogue, and that the story is poorly written and poorly paced. Users also had negative things to say about the show’s music and that it wasn’t consistent with the previously established Star Wars canon.
As of writing, you can only binge-watch two episodes of The Acolyte on Disney Plus, and the remaining six episodes will be dropping every Tuesday until July 16. It’s far too early to decide whether or not The Acolyte is a good show based on its first two chapters. Hopefully, people will change their opinions on this new Star Wars show. The galaxy far, far away already has enough content that isn’t warmly received (cough Sequel Trilogy cough).
