Suicide Squad Isekai” Premieres on HBO GO with DC Characters in a New World

A new ten-episode anime series called Suicide Squad Isekai is coming soon to HBO GO, produced by Warner Bros. Japan’s Anime Production and WIT Studio. This Suicide Squad Isekai series features characters from the DC Comics universe, including Harley Quinn, The Joker, and the Suicide Squad, who find themselves in a different world. The term “Isekai” means “another world” in Japanese.

Warner Bros. announced plans to create more anime adaptations in Asia earlier this year. James Gibbons, WBD’s president for the Asia-Pacific region, said that Warner Bros.’s Japanese anime studio has been making five to ten anime series each year.

With the success of shows like Suicide Squad Isekai,” they plan to increase this number to over ten series per year. The studio has been active since 2011 and has produced more than 80 titles, including hits like “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure,” “Record of Ragnarok,” and the “Batman Ninja” movie.

Suicide Squad Isekai is directed by Osada Eri, with a screenplay by Nagatsuki Tappei and Umehara Eiji. Akira Amano created the character design drafts, and Naoto Hosoda finalized the designs. The music is composed by Kenichiro Suehiro. The story follows Amanda Waller, who gathers villains like Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Peacemaker, Clayface, and King Shark. They are sent to a magical world with a portal connecting it to our world. In this fantasy land, they face dangerous creatures like orcs and dragons. These villains have explosives in their necks, ensuring they must complete their mission or face death.

The characters in Suicide Squad Isekai are voiced by well-known Japanese actors, including Anna Nagase as Harley Quinn and Umehara Yuuichirou as The Joker. Other characters include Deadshot voiced by Yamaguchi Reigo, Peacemaker by Koyasu Takehito, Clayface by Fukuyama Jun, King Shark by Kimura Subaru, Rick Flag by Yashiro Taku, Katana by Anzia Chika, and Amanda Waller by Kujira.

Suicide Squad Isekai will be available on HBO GO, Warner Bros.’ streaming service in Southeast Asia. However, it may eventually be replaced by the Max platform, which offers more content and better features.

With Suicide Squad Isekai,” Warner Bros. is bringing an exciting new anime experience to audiences in Asia, blending the worlds of DC Comics with the unique style of Japanese animation.
