The V Rising/Castlevania crossover

castlevania crossover trailer drop

43-second trailer teased a crossover between the V Rising game and Simon Belmont from the infamous Castlevania series. In a Steam developer post, the CEO of Stunlock Studios, Rickard Frisegård, explains that the upcoming Legacy of Castlevania DLC sees Belmont waging war against all vampires. He will be armed with his iconic whip, the Vampire Killer, as well as an arsenal of holy weapons to complete his task. Players who defeat him will unlock a new whip weapon and learn new combat abilities that “embody the grace and precision of the deadly vampire hunter.”

The DLC will be free to all players and an additional paid cosmetic DLC can also be purchased. The Legacy of Castlevania Premium Pack will allow players to make their castles look similar to ones found in Castlevania and includes two Castlevania themes reimagined by Aleksandria Migova, V Rising’s composer, which can be set as background music in a player’s castle. The paid DLC will also allow players to outfit their characters with new customization options inspired by various Castlevania characters and ride a skeletal mount. Both content packs, along with the full version of V Rising, will be released on May 8 on Steam.

What is V Rising?

v rising ps5

V Rising is a survival RPG where players control a recently awakened vampire who must set out to build their own castle and establish themselves in a world where most vampires are dead and villagers now believe them to be myths. Debuting back in 2022 in early access, the game has been receiving various updates that have tweaked and improved the game, and the full release is scheduled to arrive on May 8. Stunlock Studios also announced that a PS5 version is in the works, but hasn’t provided a release date as of yet.

Simon Belmont and Castlevania

A member of the Belmont family of vampire slayers, Simon Belmont is the hero of the first two Castlevania games. He is adept with using his legendary Vampire Killer whip to end various occult creatures that threaten humans and is responsible for killing the lord of vampires, Dracula, not once, but twice.

Roguelike Dead Cells also had a crossover with Castlevania back in 2023. The Beheaded (the player character) got to go an adventure with veteran vampire slayers Alucard and Richter Belmont, acquire new holy weaponry such like the throwing axes, holy water, and the Vampire Killer whip and defeat the embodiment of Death and Dracula, both in his normal form and in his demonic final form.
