D.A. Statement on Diddy Abusing Cassie Video
Diddy abusing Cassie is the focus of a statement issued by the Los Angeles District Attorney regarding a disturbing 2016 security camera video showing Sean “Diddy” Combs physically assaulting his then-girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie Ventura. The video, which resurfaced and was shared by CNN on Friday, clearly depicts Diddy abusing Cassie. The D.A.’s office responded on social media on Saturday, stating, “We are aware of the video that has been circulating online allegedly depicting Sean Combs assaulting a young woman in Los Angeles. We find the images extremely disturbing and difficult to watch.”
The statement further clarified that if Diddy abusing Cassie occurred in 2016, it would fall outside the statute of limitations for prosecuting assault. Consequently, they would be unable to charge him for the incident. As of now, no case related to Diddy abusing Cassie has been presented to law enforcement, but the D.A.’s office encourages anyone who has been a victim or witness to a crime to report it.
The security footage from March 5, 2016, shows Diddy abusing Cassie by grabbing, shoving, dragging, and kicking her from various camera angles. This video aligns with allegations Cassie made in a 35-page lawsuit filed in November 2023, where she accused Diddy of raping her in 2018, among other abusive behaviors.
Cassie and Diddy publicly announced their relationship in 2012, though they were romantically linked as far back as 2007. Throughout their relationship, Cassie claimed that Diddy began a pattern of control and abuse soon after she signed with Bad Boy Records.
She alleged that Diddy abusing Cassie involved introducing her to excessive alcohol and substance abuse and forcing her to procure illicit prescriptions to satisfy his addictions.

According to Cassie, Diddy frequently punched, beat, kicked, and stomped on her, resulting in serious injuries such as bruises, burst lips, black eyes, and bleeding. The resurfaced video reportedly shows an incident at the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles. In the footage, Cassie is seen exiting a hotel room and walking to a bank of elevators when Diddy, holding a towel around his waist, runs after her, grabs her by the neck, and throws her to the floor. He then kicks her as she lies on the ground, retrieves her belongings, and drags her by her sweatshirt.
Douglas H. Wigdor, Cassie’s lawyer, responded to the video’s reveal, stating, “The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”
Cassie and Diddy settled her lawsuit a day after she filed it. In a statement to ET, Diddy said, “We have decided to resolve this matter amicably,” and wished Cassie and her family the best. His attorney, Ben Brafman, emphasized that settling the lawsuit was not an admission of wrongdoing, asserting that Diddy denied all the claims. Sources close to the situation indicated that the decision to settle quickly was influenced by considerations for Diddy’s family.
Despite settling with Cassie, Diddy faces five other civil lawsuits accusing him of various sexual misconduct and illegal activities. After the fourth lawsuit was filed within a month, Diddy broke his silence on Instagram, denying all allegations and claiming that people were trying to destroy his reputation.
He stated, “For the last couple of weeks, I have sat silently and watched people try to assassinate my character, destroy my reputation and my legacy. Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday. Let me be absolutely clear: I did not do any of the awful things being alleged. I will fight for my name, my family, and the truth.”
In March, Diddy’s homes were raided by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) as part of an ongoing investigation, reportedly linked to sex trafficking allegations. Although it is unclear if these raids are connected to the sexual assault lawsuits, sources revealed that multiple individuals have been interviewed in relation to a sex trafficking and RICO case. The ongoing legal battles and disturbing revelations about Diddy abusing Cassie have brought significant attention to his conduct and potential criminal activities.
