The new Funko Fusion trailer

In a new trailer, an unknown entity is seen observing various dimensions housing well-known characters from various TV and movie series. This antagonist mentions that he is “misshapen in the darkness” and that he is envious of the characters he’s watching. He then states that he will soon be ready and “in countless forms,” before proclaiming that the worlds he’s been watching will fall and that the powers each pop culture character possesses will be his. He ends his villainous monologue by telling Freddy Funko (the Funko mascot) to get ready, with Freddy seen decomposing when this line is uttered.

During the trailer, Funko versions of characters can be seen leaping out of their boxes and attacking with guns and flamethrowers against various enemies, some of which are dinosaurs hailing from Jurassic World and others appear to be the alien species seen in John Carpenter’s The Thing. Various locales from ancient Egyptian tombs to an Antarctic base are shown, suggesting that players will be hopping to different dimensions to deal with this enigmatic threat.

Alongside those two, other movie/TV/gaming franchises will include:

  • Invincible
  • M3GAN
  • The Umbrella Academy
  • Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
  • He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
  • Hot Fuzz
  • Shaun of the Dead
  • Battlestar Galactica
  • Back to the Future
  • Nope
  • Five Nights at Freddy’s
  • Jaws
  • Xena: Warrior Princess
  • Voltron
  • Chucky
  • Knight Rider
  • The Mummy

Back in 2023, developer 10:10 Games uploaded a teaser showcasing what players would be getting up to in Funko Fusion, including the ability to summon large Funko Pops like T-Rexes to aid them (side note: we need more games that let you summon a T-Rex). September 13 is the release date and it’s dropping on PS5, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S. If you’re willing to pre-order it, you’ll also get to play as Rick Grimes and Michonne from The Walking Dead. Funko is also planning on releasing Funko Fusion collectibles in the future (and yes, they’re bobbleheads).

What are Funko Pop bobbleheads?

If you’re a fan of anything (and I mean ANYTHING), chances are there’s a Funko bobblehead version of it. From games to comics to blockbuster movies and even actual celebrities, they’re an easy gift you can give to someone madly in love with a character/series/franchise without having to break the bank (unless it’s an ultra-rare Funko, in which case you may need to shell out a bit more cash).

Most Funko Pops are built the same way: they’ve got a large head and a body that’s a bit smaller in proportion. Funko Inc. also makes other products like shirts and pins, but people usually know them as the folks who make licensed bobbleheads. If the regular-sized Funko Pops are too small, they also make 10-inch and 18-inch versions of certain bobbleheads, though they also cost more than the normal-size Funko Pops.
