A new article courtesy of Insider Gaming reveals more information on Assassin’s Creed Hexe, an upcoming Ubisoft game involving witchcraft.

The details regarding Assassin’s Creed Hexe
Sources told Insider Gaming that Hexe will be more linear than recent Creed games, though some open-world elements will still be in the game (this is a Ubisoft game, so it’s not surprising). Elsa (the game’s protagonist and not the Disney princess) will have access to various magic abilities, one of which involves possessing cats to evade enemies, with one method of escape involving shattering glass bottles in cat form before sneaking away.
They were also told that a Fear System similar to the one from the Jack the Ripper DLC in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will also be present in Hexe. In Syndicate, both The Ripper and Evie Frye could use the Fear mechanic to make enemies afraid of them, resulting in said enemies turning tail and escaping from players.
Footage shown to Insider Gaming also showed what seemed to be 16th-century German soldiers, with the gameplay depicting “a dark and gloomy setting in the cobbled streets of a city” (I’m guessing this won’t be such a cheerful affair). Back in 2022, Bloomberg wrote that Assassin’s Creed Hexe will occur during the 16th century, during the reign of the Holy Roman Empire. This period is when witch trials took place, with tens of thousands of “witches” being burnt at the stake based on the belief that they practiced witchcraft and had supernatural powers (I’m fairly certain God sent the accusers to hell for what they did).
Assassin’s Creed Hexe is also said to be in the early stages of being developed. Its release window is 2026 and Infinity, a hub for Assassin’s Creed games, is the platform it will be available on.
What is Assassin’s Creed?
Just like with Watch Dogs and Far Cry, Assassin’s Creed is a stealth game series. You control Assassins and kill Templars, who want to take away the free will of the people using powerful artifacts called ”Pieces of Eden.” The Assassins don’t want that and their solution to their Templar problem is to murder them in cold blood (Yay, murder!).
The first game dropped back in 2007 and since that time, there’s been a plethora of Assassin’s Creed content for one to sink their teeth into. Besides the games, there’ve been comics, manga, a board game, and as with many other beloved game series, a live-action big-screen adaptation (just saying that makes me want to vomit).
